Undergraduate Patient Recruitment

16 December 2018

The University of Glasgow Dental School is currently recruiting patients for free NHS dental treatment by BDS students.

Motivated patients in need of routine dentistry, with time to attend appointments, are required.

Currently we are looking for patients suitable for routine dental treatment by BDS 3 students. Simple cases requiring caries and periodontal management, extractions, endodontic treatment, simple crowns/bridges are needed NOW.

BDS 4 and 5 students will accept patients requiring complete and partial denture provision, crowns/small unit bridges/ one or two veneers/inlays/onlays and single or multi-rooted endodontic cases without access complications. These patients should be otherwise dentally fit and should be aware there may be a waiting time before treatment commences.

One course of treatment is provided by students with discharge to the referring practitioner on completion. For more information on acceptance criteria please follow this link:            https://www.gla.ac.uk/schools/dental/practitionerreferrals/

Please send referrals (with up-to-date radiographs for crown & bridge / endodontic cases) to: UgStudentAppointments@ggc.scot.nhs.uk

Or call the Student Waiting List Co-ordinators:

All patients will be screened at their first Dental School appointment re their suitability for treatment by a dental student. Attendance for a screening appointment does not guarantee acceptance for dental student treatment. However, 90% of patients screened are accepted.

Student Clinics are not covered by National Waiting Time Guarantees.
