1. URGENT: DENTAL SUSTAINABILITY FUNDING
   • The LDC have been working closely and collaboratively with the board to ensure additional funding allocated to GG&C is not lost.
   • The GG&C deadline for submitting notes of interest for additional funding is THIS FRIDAY (25th March 2022)
     • The board need to know if you intend to access any of the funding described below.
     • NB: This includes notifying them of any pending orders or planned works to be completed before the 30th June deadline.
   • If you plan to apply for funding for Red Band Handpieces or Ventilation in GG&C you must submit your note of interest by this Friday (25th March).
     • Please email GDSadmin@ggc.nhs.scot.uk with the name of your practice, address and postcode in the subject header followed by ‘ventilation funding’ or ‘electric speed increasing handpiece funding’ 
     • This email must be from your generic practice nhs.scot  or the designated dentist’s nhs.scot address
     • Within this email indicate what your proposed spend is for, the amount and when it is likely to be completed
   • The remainder of the red band / ventilation pot will be made available for capital repairs and refurbishment as set out in the recent PCA.
     • The full expectation is that practices will use applications for red band / ventilation in the first instance.
   • If you have already claimed Red Band / Ventilation funding, and wish to access the leftover pot of funding for capital investments, you must also submit your note of interest by this Friday (25th March).
     • Please email GDSadmin@ggc.nhs.scot.uk with the name of your practice, address and postcode in the subject header followed by ‘other funding’ 
     • This email must be from your generic practice nhs.scot  or the designated dentist’s nhs.scot address
     • Please indicate what other improvements you may be considering (examples given in the PCA include but are not limited to: Dental Chair; Dental Operating Light; Spittoon; Suction; Compressor; Xray Unit).
     • The LDC will be consulted to ensure this funding is distributed fairly.
   • This is not the same fund as the ‘one-off sustainability payment’ mentioned in the recent PCA.
2. FAQ ON COVID MULTIPLIER
   • The FAQ on the revised payment arrangements has now been published on Scottish Dental. 
   • This sets out in more detail how the 0.7 multiplier payment will work.
   • The multiplier payment will be calculated on the gross IoS fees paid in each month (Line 3 + Line 37 on your Account 7 payment schedule). Therefore, if a practice has gross IoS fees of £3,000 paid in May, then they would receive those fees and a multiplier payment of £2,100.
   • We understand that a final Covid FSM payment will be made March paid April. 
   • We understand that all claims submitted after the March paid April cut-off will then be included in the multiplier calculation for April paid May.
3. MIDAZOLAM
   • The Deputy CDO wrote to practices to clarify the current approach to emergency drug kit midazolam
   • A training video is available on TURAS via a link in the PCA
   • The LDC have been made aware that  NHS Scotland Pharmaceutical ‘Specials’ Service (PSS), formerly known as Tayside Pharmaceuticals, will be withdrawing their medical emergency drug kits. 
     • We are actively pursuing clarification on this and pushing for a suitable alternative
4. SDCEP ANTICOAGULANTS GUIDANCE UPDATE
   • SDCEP have published an update to their guidance on anticoagulant and antiplatelet patients.
   • This can be accessed on their website or on their app.
5. PUBLIC HOLIDAYS 2022/3
   • GG&C have changed their approach to public holidays this year.
   • The public holidays that apply to GDS are detailed at the foot of this update.
   • We expect NHS 24 and GEDS will continue to cover emergencies on these dates.
   • However, you will note certain holidays have been removed.
   • GG&C practices will therefore have to cover their own emergency care during working hours if they choose to close on:
     • May 30th (Late May bank holiday)
     • June 3rd (Queen’s Platinum Jubilee)
     • July xx (Fair Monday – dates vary regionally)
6. DENTAL BANK
   • GG&C have opportunities in daytime and out of hours services for Dentists to join the Dental Staff Bank to help deliver urgent, emergency and elements of routine dental care.

8. CONFERENCE OF SCOTTISH LDCs
   • The conference of Scottish LDCs will take place on Friday 22nd April 2022
   • Representatives from all the Scottish LDCs meet to set the political agenda for Scottish Dental Practice for the coming year.

9. LDC MANDATES
   • Please take the time to complete a mandate to support the continued work of GG&C LDC. The process is entirely online and takes no more than a minute.
   • It is important to note that if you have moved practice or changed list number your previous mandate will no longer be active and you should sign a new one with each change. If in doubt sign one anyway, you won’t increase your commitment if you accidentally duplicate your mandate.
